EN 10025-2 S275JR high strength structural steel plate

S275JR was first introduced in 1990 by the European Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization, The steel was first specified in the EN10025 standard and later published in the UK by the British Standards Institute (BSI) as BS EN 10025 S275 & S275JR. The new grade substituted the previous British Standard BS 4360 43A which has now been officially withdrawn. The average minimum yield for this material is 275 N/mm² , hence the name S275JR.

S275JR Steel Weldability
When welding thick plates, reference should be made to BS EN 1011-2:2001 “Welding – Recommendations for welding of metallic materials Part 2: Arc welding of ferrite steels”. The carbon equivalent value (CE) should be calculated from the values of the chemical composition indicated on the test certificates for the plates concerned. The formula to be used is:
CE = C + Mn + Cr + Mo + V + Ni + Cu
